Hawaii’s largest solar farm goes online in Waianae

San Diego-based, Eurus Energy America Corp. shared its 27.6-megawatt solar photovoltaic facility – with the potential capacity to power more than 4,000 homes — called EE Waianae Solar Project LLC has begun commercial operation. The goal is to help Hawaii reach 100 percent electricity production from renewable energy by 2045. The solar project in Waianae will triple the amount of utility-scale solar connected to Oahu’s grid.

RMTC provided surveying, civil engineering, and planning services throughout the development of this project, coordinating services with various government agencies including City and County of Honolulu and the State of Hawaii. Surveying services included base mapping, road and access rights of way research, potential transmission routes surveying, and subdivision and topographic mapping of an additional 2-acre piece to be transferred to the State. RMTC planners prepared an Environmental Assessment Declaration of Exemption and general permitting support.
