RMTC served as prime consultant for this project to resurface existing sidewalks along Kalakaua Avenue.  Phase 1 included Pau Street to Liliuokalani Street (approximately 0.5 miles) and Phase 2 was from Liliuokalani Street to Kapahulu Avenue (approximately 0.3 miles).  The purpose of the project was to improve safety and walking conditions for pedestrians.  The design package delivered by RMTC included ADA-compliant sidewalk pavement with a quartzite tile surface, landscaping, irrigation, and electrical system upgrades.  RMTC coordinated the design with private owners who participated in the design of and paid for upgrades to their properties.
