RMTC was contracted to perform work necessary to create Design Plans and Specifications for dam removal.  Ku Tree dam is approximately 550 feet long, 75 feet high with a crest width of 30 feet.  Work included breach design analysis, structural analysis for 105-foot-high masonry control tower demolition, geotechnical data collection, topographic data collection, cost estimates, construction Emergency Action Plan (EAP), access road improvements, and Value Engineering facilitation. The design includes environmental compliance and permits, including dam removal permit.  The breach alternative will be a 50-foot-wide bottom natural channel through the spillway alignment. RMTC planners assisted the Army Corps of Engineers to review and update the NEPA Environmental Assessment and applications for necessary permits including: NPDES, Department of the Army Section 10/Section 404 permit, and Section 401 Water Quality Certification.
